Researching about the cost of turf? It is fair to say that artificial turf for indoor sports has evolved over recent years. This is due to an improvement in the manufacturing process that has ultimately led to a better quality product being produced.

As a result, artificial turf is now able to act more akin to normal outdoor turf, which does make it easier for any individual playing the sport. In the past, the ball's bounce may have been erratic, and the turf itself was rather unforgiving, both on the skin and the joints. Now that this is a thing of the past, more venues are turning to artificial turf in order to provide the best surface possible throughout the entire year.

However, there is one problem. The problem is that completely replacing even old artificial turf will often be an expensive proposition. Many believe that there is a need to rip everything out and start all over again, and they just see the costs rising before their very eyes.

This does not have to be the case.

Instead, there is another alternative, and it is capable of keeping the costs down for everyone. That alternative is to recycle or re-purpose the old artificial turf, leading to the indoor surface having a completely new lease of life.

The Cost of Turf and the Concept of Recycling Artificial Turf

The very idea of recycling artificial turf may be rather confusing for many. In actual fact, the entire process is a lot easier to understand than most expect, and a brief explanation will be able to clear up so much confusion.

The entire process is focused on the ability to purchase used turf. In this instance, we are clearly talking about used artificial turf, and by doing this it means the costs are kept at a minimum.

This does not mean that the quality of the artificial turf is sub-standard by any means, but rather it is the way in which the turf becomes available that is the absolute key. Often, artificial grass from outdoor installations will be replaced on a semi-regular basis, thanks to upgrades and often wear and tear that only occurs in specific areas.

For example, imagine a soccer field.

With soccer, there is always a tendency that the turf will become more worn in and around the goal areas, but that then means that there is 80% or so of the playing field that is still in good condition. Now, the soccer club may decide to press ahead and completely replace the entire surface, but that does not have to mean that the 80% that is in good condition should just be abandoned.

Instead, by simply re-purposing those areas for indoor arenas, where the size requirements are smaller, it breathes new life into the grass. This will also then provide the arena with high-quality artificial grass that is far superior to whatever they had before.

This can apply even if your indoor sports facility already has older artificial turf. You may have previously used cheaper versions due to the costs, so even upgrading by purchasing artificial turf that has previously been used elsewhere can be an attractive alternative. Remember, the standard and overall quality of these products has improved drastically in recent years, so if you have not upgraded, then now may be the time to do so.

Looking More Closely at the Cost of Turf

To further strengthen the argument for purchasing recycled artificial turf, we can look at the costs that are often involved. You may already even be aware of the high cost of purchasing brand-new artificial turf, so what would you think if you were told that this option could cost you a fraction of the price? Considering the potential cost of buying this brand new, it is no wonder that people are often turned off at the thought of using artificial turf. However, there is an alternative.

Everybody knows that buying something recycled will be cheaper, but you will be surprised at the difference that is possible just by taking advantage of this option. You can expect to pay just a small percentage and yet, at the same time, you will still have quality artificial turf installed at your facility.

The Positives of this Option

Clearly, the reduced cost is a huge advantage for everyone, but that is not the only positive associated with this particular option. You may also wish to consider that it is extremely beneficial to the environment, as this used turf would have been scrapped and thrown away when there was no need for this to be the case.

This kind of material is unable to be broken down by nature so easily, so it would simply sit there in a landfill, when players could have been partaking in their sport using that turf. By re-purposing it, you are giving it a second chance at life as there will still be a substantial number of playing hours contained within the turf.

Furthermore, it is accepted that this form of turf is also substantially cheaper to maintain over an extended period of time. Considering the amount of wear and tear that is often expected with indoor sports, then maintenance is going to be a big deal. Thanks to this approach, and due to quality artificial turf being used, looking after it is no longer an issue. This alone will save even more money.

So, to conclude, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative when it comes to laying a new surface at your indoor sports field, then consider using recycled artificial grass. Forget worrying about the recycled aspect, as you will still be able to purchase high-quality artificial turf that will be perfect for your own particular needs.

By doing so, you are not only going to be saving a substantial sum of money but at the same time helping to stop perfectly good artificial turf from being sent to landfill when there is still so much life left in it. Overall, it makes so much sense that it is difficult to imagine even contemplating another option.
