Many people wonder about the cost of artificial turf. Yet, they don’t take into consideration the lifetime savings of this investment. Furthermore, for many people, drought is a real concern. When there is an impending drought, or you are just trying to use less water, you have to figure out how you can use less water at home. Sometimes it is enough to simply turn the faucet off while you are brushing your teeth, but sometimes you have to do a little bit more.

1. Install Artificial Grass

Artificial grass does not have to be watered. Accordingly, installing artificial grass helps reduce the amount of water used. Some experts say that 1 square foot of artificial grass helps save 66 gallons of water per year. Artificial grass has a lot of other benefits too, such as it requires less maintenance and looks like real grass.

2. Monitor Your Usage

Sometimes you do not realize how much water you and your family are really using. That is why it is good to start monitoring your water usage if you are trying to cut back. Thankfully with technology where it is, monitoring your water usage is as easy as downloading an app on your phone.

3. Buy the Right Appliances

You should also get appliances that use less water. There is a new rating that lets you know if the appliances conserve water. Once you get those appliances, make sure to use them on the right water-saving setting.

4. Get a Tankless Water Heater

A tankless water heater helps you save water because you do not have to wait for the water to warm up. It comes out warm right away, which means water is used. Not only will this cut down on water, but it will cut down on your overall energy usage as well.

There are a lot of things that you can do to help save water. You may not have to use all of these drought solutions, but using a few will help conserve water in areas that are low.
