Seam work is the most important part of artificial grass installation! Getting the seams just right means the difference between a natural looking lawn and a green plastic mess.

Note:

Before you begin, make sure you have the right tools for the job!

1. Give Your Turf Time to Expand

Heat makes artificial turf expand. You want to lay turf the way it will look in your yard. For that reason we recommend letting your turf sit in the sun for 30 minutes to an hour to expand.

Not giving your turf proper time to expand may result in an awkward and frustrating installation.

2. Make Sure Rolls Are Facing the Same Direction

Before you go through the process of laying your turf and gluing the seams, you want to make sure all of your rolls are oriented with the blades and stitch patterns facing the same direction. This will create a naturalistic appearance.

Laying the turf and securing the seams with the blades facing different directions will result in a bizarre, fake looking lawn.

3. Have Extra Turf to Work With

When it comes to gluing the seams and nailing in the edges, you’ll want some excess material to work with. Leave a quarter to half an inch of artificial turf over your borders for finishing touches.

4. Lay Your Seam Tape and Glue Your Turf

You want to place your seam tape underneath the center of your seam and add nails every few inches to secure it to your base. Then make an “S” pattern with your glue over the seam tape. Spread the glue to make sure it’s evenly distributed on both sides of the red line. Lastly move the turf into place.

5. Let Your Glue Set

Let your glue set for fifteen minutes. You can lay infill bags evenly along the seam to reinforce contact with the seam tape.
