One of the reasons artificial grass is growing in popularity among homeowners is it’s dramatic ability to save time, money, and water without that welcoming look people love about healthy green lawn.

Yet, some still frown upon it despite it’s benefits – especially during the ongoing drought, which experts believe will persist through heavy rainfall.

This is the irony,” mused homeowner Richard Turner as he looked over the newly installed and remarkably realistic-looking artificial lawn in his mid-Wilshire frontyard. “We grow grass to make the illusion that we don’t live in a desert. Here I am, enhancing the illusion of a lawn that is the illusion we don’t live in a desert.”

Artificial lawn may be a facade, but then again, so is natural grass for residents living in dry climates. The difference is you have to spend time, money, and water maintaining natural grass.
